Rebuilding the Architecture: A Return to the Craft

Hello!
At the beginning of 2026, I made a definitive decision: to return to creating seriously, to return to the internet, and to return to being a photography enthusiast. Or perhaps an “Enthusiast+”, given I do have some professional background in this field.

Why I stopped taking photos and what exactly brought me back is a separate story. I think I will write about it in another post soon. I began my return to photography and publishing with a new Instagram profile. If you haven’t visited yet, please take a look at @by.andybar. That is where updates are the most frequent, and it’s an easy place to drop me a message. I am not a massive Instagram fanatic, but it genuinely is a great place to find some inspiration, meet other creators, and occasionally publish something of my own.

The next stage was setting up this website, andybar.photo. I wanted a place entirely under my control that allows me to present my work in a slightly more professional manner than social media permits. Because I often struggle with overthinking and perfectionism, I decided to operate on the “done is better than perfect” principle. That is why the site initially took the form of a very simple one-pager.

Now, after two months of working on the technical foundation of this space, I am ready for further development. Over the coming weeks months, the site will be systematically rebuilt into a space that makes it much easier to navigate through what and how I create. The first step is this new Journal section, and this is its very first entry.

Moving forward, the Journal will feature longer descriptions of my photographic projects, gear reflections, occasional tips or insights, and from time to time, more reflective entries—a bit like this one.
